3 Ayurvedic Must-Haves for Your Next Vacation ☀️

Nourish Note

Yoga * Books * Blog * YouTube

Packing for vacation always brings out the perfectionist in me. I make a detailed checklist, double-check it and still worry that I’m forgetting something.

Case in point: On our last trip, my husband forgot his toothbrush. The hotel gave him a spare—and let’s just say the bristles were basically wire.

Moments like that remind me how easy it is to get thrown off when you’re away from home. Whether you’re chasing sunsets on a beach, wandering through a new city or unplugging in the mountains, travel has a way of shaking up your routine.

And while the spontaneity is part of the magic, your body and mind still crave a little consistency, especially when you’re jumping time zones and sleeping on hotel pillows.

But here’s the good news: Staying grounded on the go doesn’t mean bringing everything from home—just choose what truly supports you.

Over the years, I’ve narrowed it down to three Ayurvedic essentials I never leave home without when traveling. These tiny-but-mighty tools help me feel more energized, balanced and ready to take on all the walking, exploring and joy that travel brings. ☀️

I’d Love Your Insight!

I’m working on a new project that’s close to my heart and your input would mean so much. Would you take a moment to share your thoughts on these two questions? Just hit reply—I’m truly listening. 🌿

Nourish Note When was the last time you had a quiet moment without reaching for your phone? No scrolling. No checking messages. No filling the silence. Just being there, with yourself. I’ve been thinking about this because I recently wrote about something I never expected to become such a big part of my life: my smartphone. I didn’t get one until 2013. (I finally gave in when my phone provider offered a smartphone for free. I’ve upgraded since then, but that first phone lasted me for years.)...

Nourish Note During the first yoga class I ever taught on Zoom in April 2020, my power went out — not once, but twice. First during the opening meditation, and then again about 10 minutes later after we had already started moving. As I waited for the power to come back on and the WiFi to reconnect both times, I had to laugh a little. There I was: a yoga teacher teaching my very first online class, while the universe seemed to be reminding me of one of yoga’s biggest lessons: Everything is...

Nourish Note Before I had the Ayurvedic self-care routine I have now, I used to sometimes resist starting self-care habits I knew would help me feel better. I’d read about them, learn everything I could and push them off — telling myself I’d get to them someday. But when someday never came, I realized I’d been waiting for the “right” time to start — and that wasn’t getting me anywhere. Actually doing it was what mattered. The habit that started my journey into Ayurveda was an incredibly...
